Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to everyone!! Declan had a wonderful first Christmas and we had a great time watching him discover all of his new toys. He has loads of new stuff to play with....a race track, ball popper, infant laptop, blocks, stacking cups....we could go on and on for a while! We're in the process of adding more storage to his play room for all his new goods. For a few weeks he spent every afternoon trying to tear open presents but on Christmas morning he wasn't into destroying all the packages. However, he did like playing with the paper, cardboard, plastic and bows. He also enjoyed all of the Christmas food like breakfast casserole, mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. Declan got his two front teeth for Christmas :) He doesn't seem to be too affected by teething so we're hoping that trend continues! Here are a few pics from Christmas day.

Nine Month Update

I realize that it's been a while since our last post...I'm going to try to do better. Maybe my New Year's resolution should be to post something every week! Declan is doing great!! We had his nine month check up earlier this month and he weighed 20 lbs and was 28 inches long. He started out low crawling about a month ago and then figured out how to crawl on his hands and knees a couple of weeks ago. He moves pretty quick so we get lots of exercise following him around. He is pulling up on everything and seems to want to climb....it's so funny to watch him try to get his little leg up on the couch! Declan has had his two bottom teeth for a while now and we keep thinking that his two front teeth are going to pop through any day but they seem to be taking their time. He loves the Christmas tree and lights and tries his best to tear the ribbons off the presents. Here are a few new pictures....

Declan's First Halloween

Declan's daycare had a Halloween party and costume parade. We had several costumes to choose from but the puppy costume was just too cute to pass up. He was so exhausted after the Halloween festivities that he fell asleep before finishing dinner!!

Cups!!!

Declan has a small obsession with cups. When he sits in his activity seat he only wants to play with the cups and when he plays in the floor he grabs the cups first. We bought a set of stackable/nesting cups to keep him entertained.

6 Months

Declan had his six-month check-up last week and the doctor thought that everything looked great. He weighs 18 lbs. and is 26 1/2 inches long. He is in the 75th percentile for both weight and height!! Over the past few weeks he has started rolling over and sitting up by himself. He now rolls onto his belly as soon we lay him down. He still loves the activity seat and the Baby Einstein jumper. He is starting to teethe and likes to rub his tongue over his gums; there is a picture below of him doing this. Many of our pictures now have him with his tongue sticking out. It's hard to believe that our little man is already six months old. Every day is a new and exciting adventure!

Yummy!

Declan ventured into the world of solids a few weeks ago!! He caught on pretty quickly and  now finishes a bowl of cereal in just a few minutes....you have to be fast or he gets a little angry. We started with cereal, veggies and then tried some fruit. He already has a few favorites, sweet potatoes and bananas, and absolutely hates peas. He starts gagging as soon as he sees them! This weekend we starting trying some Ella's Organics mixtures and they are a big hit. He even ate one with parsnips and loved it!! 

July

Here are some pictures of what we've been doing this month. Declan participated in the 4th of July parade at daycare, went to his first wedding and attended his first baseball game. He has also found interest in two new toys....the Einstein Activity Jumper and his activity seat. His favorite toy right now is a little crinkle dog that his Ma gave him. We have started taking it everywhere we go!

The only part that really interests him so far is the little blue book that spins. 

He also likes sitting in his little activity seat.....as long as he can see the TV.

He likes playing with his little "crinkle" dog and seems to think that it's whole head will fit into his mouth!

Declan attended his first wedding on July 8th in Nashville. He made it about 40 minutes into the ceremony before he feel asleep. He managed to sleep through the rest of the ceremony and the entire reception.

Four Month Update

Declan had his four month check-up on Monday. He weighs 15 lbs 15 oz and is 25.5 inches long which puts him in the 75th percentile. He also had his second round of shots and barely cried again. He has a delayed reaction for a couple of seconds then goes back to smiling. The doc said that we could start some rice and oatmeal cereal and then start adding veggies and fruits. It looks like we will try his first go at eating this Saturday so I'm sure we'll have some entertaining pictures very soon!
